What is the Halide Beta?
We have opened the Mark III beta to Halide subscribers to gather feedback on new features and changes for Mark III.
If you choose to participate, keep in mind that parts of the app will be in a state of flux. For example, the "neural zoom" feature doesn't let you change what area gets zoomed. Other parts of the app might break altogether.
Luckily, you can install the beta alongside the App Store version of Halide, which should remain stable.
What do I need to run the Halide beta?
You must have an active Halide subscription to access the beta. If you bought Halide 1.x, or a one-time-purchase of Mark II, it will not work. We are not planning to add support.
However, if you bought Mark II, you will be given a free upgrade to Mark III whenever it actually launches in the App Store.
I have a subscription and it still didn't let me in
Make sure you have the App Store version of Halide installed on your device, and you have launched and unlocked that app before launching the Beta. If that doesn't work, try deleting and reinstalling both the App Store version and the Beta.
If it still doesn't work, please email support@lux.camera, and we will walk you through providing more diagnostic information.
The beta says it is all filled up. Can you add more spots?
No. Apple limits TestFlight to 10,000 testers, so we are carefully opening up the beta as we work out bugs and add major features.
Do not ask to be added, and absolutely do not message admins asking to be added. Failure to follow this rule may result in a ban without warning.
I noticed a bug in the beta. Should I report it in the Discord?
Please check if the bug exists in the App Store version. If it does, please email support@lux.camera, so we can fix it there. Fixes that go out to the App Store get carried over to the beta afterwards.
For the beta, we would appreciate bug reports related to the feature we've added. For example, Mark III adds HDR support, so we'd if you report if the images look wrong, or the app fails to capture photos.
Reports of, say, misaligned buttons aren't as useful right now, since the Mark III interface is in a state of flux. As we get closer to releasing Mark III, we'll focus on that stuff.
Can you add a specific feature I want?
Please keep feedback in the Discord related to new features in the beta. For example, when we added HDR support, we valued feedback on whether the interface was intuitive.
If you have a general request for a new feature, please email support@lux.camera, where we keep track of new feature requests.
When will the final version of Mark III be released?
We are not providing dates. We hope to release it in 2025, but that might be wishful thinking.
